Director of Loss Control and Claims
Cavignac & Associates, a local San Diego based risk management and insurance brokerage has an opening for a Director of Loss Control and Claims. This person will have overall responsibility for coordinating and delivering loss control, safety and claims management services to clients of the agency.
Responsibilities include: researching, evaluating and consulting with the agency’s clients in order to help them lower the frequency and severity of their loss exposures. This includes making loss control recommendations and implementing claims management strategies. In addition to working directly with our clients it is expected that this person will also be involved with local construction and other business related associations participating in safety and claims-related issues; actively manage the claim review process; be the lead on client/ employee training; and also provide departmental staff supervision.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree, an ARM, ASP, CSP or other industry recognized designation or certification, or be working toward those designations. EM 385 40-hour course certification is extremely important and can be earned after hire. Safety experience in construction, real estate and manufacturing is desired.
We are looking for a minimum of 5-10 years experience in claims and loss control related positions. Current knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations relevant to industry and clients is also valued.
We are looking for someone who is genuinely concerned about promoting safety and effectively managing claims and who likes to work with others.

Hiring Salary Range: $54,500/-$80,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Under general direction of the Industrial Hygiene Program Manager, the Biological Safety Officer (BSO) will develop, implement and support important aspects of a comprehensive integrated safety and environmental management system for the UCSC campus.
The BSO uses professional independent judgment while performing duties in major areas of the campus environmental health and safety (EH&S) program, including the laboratory and biological safety program, animal researcher occupational health and safety, blood-borne pathogens and biological / medical waste.
These programs affect individuals, departments, groups of departments and occasionally involve campus wide activities. As a member of EH&S, the selected candidate uses standard and creative professional approaches to evaluate and implement solutions for health and safety hazards in campus work locations, provides support for occupational and environmental regulation compliance and interprets and evaluates local, state and federal codes, regulations and guidelines.
The BSO is an integral member of the EH&S team and may supervise one or more staff or students.
Qualifications include:
· Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in microbiology, molecular and cellular biology, immunology, genetics or related scientific discipline including course work in microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, immunology or health sciences.
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the identification and evaluation of biological and occupational health and safety hazards with broad-based experience in laboratory safety.
· Ability to perform technical reviews of biosafety proposals involving the use of infectious agents, recombinant DNA, and blood-borne pathogens.
· Ability to perform technical reviews of animal research proposals involving occupational health and safety concerns, field research safety matters and biosafety issues (rDNA in animals).
· Demonstrated ability to design, develop and present technical training programs to individuals and groups.
